Our care space is specially designed to cater to the needs of small dogs and provide a safe and comfortable environment for them to play and socialize with other pups.
During your little dogs’ boarding experience, your pet will be supervised by trained professionals who will make sure that they are getting the attention and care that they need. This can be especially important for dogs who may have separation anxiety or who are prone to destructive behavior when left alone.
During their stay, your little dog will have access to plenty of toys and activities to keep them engaged and entertained. They will also have the opportunity to interact with other dogs and make new friends, which can be great for their socialization skills.
Our chemical free, expansive Dog Safe Garden is available for daily runs around the grass, napping in a beautiful and relaxing flower bed or exploring and making new fur-ever friends.

Dogs also require mental stimulation in order to stay happy and healthy. Pick-up between 5pm-6pm
NOTE: *All daycare payments are due at drop-off. All payments are final. We DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS for any care deposits or cancellations. Space is limited, deposits and payments reserve your pups space; prices may vary per session or needs of the individual pup. Since space is limited we do turn dogs away when we reach capacity plan ahead.
You may use your payment as credit towards a future visit of Daycare or Boarding subject to availability.
We do charge you for any holiday itself cancellations. So if you book through Christmas and cancel your trip you will be charged for the holiday itself (Rate of $70+ Holiday $40 = $110). Any remainder of a deposit will be a credit towards a future visit and expires after 24 months.

We are not a traditional kennel.
We are an open care environment that caters to toy-breeds only. Pups must be able to acclimate to the environment to be eligible for care.
We only accept a limited number of patrons so that we can provide
the very best in care and attention. YOU, the owner are still responsible for your pet(s) behavior even when at daycare or boarding. If you feel at any time your pup is not well, unhealthy or unable to cope with small dog play then it is your responsibility to remove your pup from care. In addition, if staff feels that your pup is not well, unhealthy or unable to cope with the social aspect of group play then you will need to have an alternative pick up option (local and in town during any care) that can assist in pickup for your pup. We make every effort to ensure a safe and healthy environment but we are not the owners of each pup and as such require owners to be forthcuming with any changes in health and behavior of their dog(s).

Pups must be under 15 pounds to participate.
To ensure your pup has a great time all participants are required to attend a Daycare Prep Day to ensure that your pup is able to acclimate. This day allows us to view your pups interactions and assess if they are able to stay for overnight care; Daycare Prep.
Space is limited, we only take a few pups at a time, and we do not accept all pups: therefore your pups temperament, general social awareness, age, special needs and/or breeding will determine your fur-baby’s eligibility. Our facility is a unique, open environment and is not suitable for some dog personalities and/or temperaments; restriction may apply.
Each fur-baby will receive paperwork for their prep day for them to fill out and bring the completed packet back on their reserved drop-off day.
Your fur-baby is required to return both their paperwork as well as their proof of current vaccinations on their drop-off day. No exceptions.
Assuming all goes well during your Daycare Prep Day a non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your space for boarding, 50% of your trips duration is paid with the balance due at your designated drop off day.
Retreat Guidelines
Here at the LITTLE DOG RETREAT TM your little furry family member will find the best in-home care, away from home. We are a crate and kennel free alternative from the traditional care facility while you work or play. Little dog owners now have the choice of a fun and caring environment for your little fur-baby while you are away for both work and play.
We are a family owned and operated and are licensed and insured. Our staff is also trained and certified in Canine CPR and First Aid with the American Red Cross.
Packaged Care
All payments are non-refundable. Pre-arranged, packaged care requires a deposit of 50% of the duration for your pups stay to reserve your space. All packages are paid in full (remaining funds after initial deposit) at the first drop-off day. A $25 late fee is charged at pickup for all funds not paid in full on drop off day. No credit is issued for canceled or altered trips.
You may pay with check. We do not accept credit cards at this time. If your check does not clear we will charge you an additional $55 fee. If needed, we will take legal action for any unpaid accounts. There are no refunds or for pre-paid care. If your trip gets cancelled you can use your pre-payment as credit towards a future date (must be agreed upon by daycare representative).
Holiday’s
We are available, subject to restrictions on all standard holidays including, New Years Eve, 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, December 25th, however we are closed for drop-off and pick-up on these dates. There is an additional fee + the standard rate for your trips duration for overnight care on the holiday itself; standard rates apply for days before and after the holiday.
Daycare
Drop-off and pick-up by reservation only. We are closed by 6 p.m. If your pup is not picked up your pup will stay for overnight care and responsible for both daycare and boarding costs due at pick-up. We do not offer AM pickup or Daycare on Sunday’s.
You are required to accompany your dog into our facility at time of drop-off. All dogs must arrive with a collar and leash plus tags.
Extended Care
We offer extended care for all of our pup patrons. If you are traveling with a business, family care or educational Visa and will be gone for more than 4 weeks overseas to Europe, Asia or the Middle East we are happy to care for your pup for longer durations of time. We do require a minimum of 1 daycare prep day prior to your care. Extended care (anything over 2 weeks) requires at least 1 single overnight boarding + the daycare prep day to help you pup adjust to longer care. This ensures that your pup(s) realize that you are coming back for them and prevents separation anxiety.
Medications
We understand that toy breeds sometimes have special medical needs. Our fur-baby guests who require medication pay an extra $3 per occurrence. All prescription medications will need to be pre-arranged and pills that require alterations (cut) will need to be prepared in advance. Feel free to call for questions or details.
Food
You will need to provide food for your pup for their entire stay. In the event, that your pup runs out of food; a fee of $6 per Day ($3 breakfast + $3 dinner) will be added to your pups stay and payment is required at time of pick-up.
Sanitary Bands/Panties
Male dogs who are not able to control their territorial markings indoors are required to ware a sanitary band (belly band) while indoors. Females in heat are required to ware sanitary diapers/panties while at our facility. All patrons are required to provide the proper sanitary items for their fur-babies.
Intact Pups
We respect the right for pup-parents to keep their tiny and toy breed dogs intact (i.e. un-neutered or un-spayed) for potential breeding and or show-dog events. However, those attending who are intact will require a sanitary pad with panty for females and a belly band for males. Please note, limited and/or seasonal access and/or restrictions may apply; call for more details.
Fur-baby Safety
The safety of your fur-baby is our top priority! For this reason, our facility is equipped with Canine First Aid kits and canine ear thermometers. These items and more are available to make sure your furry family members stay happy and healthy while in our care. Plus, our staff has been trained in K-9 CPR and First Aid with the American Red Cross. In addition, to ensure all pups are able to safely play, we only accept pups who are able to interact in a social environment with fellow fur-babies. sanitary diapers/panties while at our facility. All patrons are required to provide the proper sanitary items for their fur-babies.
Puppies
All pups must be at least 8 months in age and have completed their full puppy series of vaccinations to participate.
Dog Health
All fur-babys must be clean and in good health with the exception of pre-arranged, post surgical situations. Your fur-baby must be free of any condition which could potentially jeopardize other guests and certify that your pet has not been ill in the last 30 days. In the event that we discover that your pup has any of the following they will be immediately removed from our retreat group and the will be crated. We will make every effort to contact you or your alternate pickup person. Including, but not limited to: worms, parasites, unusually strong genital odor, mites, worts, oral sores, kennel cough, and/or blood-borne pathogens.
Fleas
Each fur-baby is subject to a flea comb test during their initial consultation/prep day. We respect the right of each fur-baby parent to utilize their chosen form of preventative flea solution, but all pups must pass our flea comb test and be free of fleas and flea eggs for admittance.
Vaccinations
All pups are required to show proof of current vaccinations including: Distemper, Parvo, Parainfluenza, Bordetella and Rabies. We understand the various concerns with vaccination pups so we also accept a current Titer Test (administered within 3 weeks from desired care). A Titer Test is a blood test that shows immunity. Talk with your vet about Titer Test and vaccination options.
Holiday Cancelations
Holiday cancelations will be charged for the holiday itself from the reservation deposit. All additional funds from the deposit will remain as credit toward future care. Credit is available for 24 months, after which it is forfeited.
Deposit Credit
Deposit credit will sit as credit in a pups account for 24 months. After 24 months any unused credit will be forfeited from use for daycare or boarding care. If you dog has not attended care in 5 years we shred your account file and all credit is considered voided. Your pup will need to re-qualify for care.
Absence from Boarding Care or Daycare Visitation
Once a pup has cleared the initial Daycare prep day, your pup is able to attend care for both boarding and daycare upon reservation and availability. If you dog’s health changes or declines a new assessment (daycare prep day) will need to be established prior to boarding care. If your pup has not attended care (either daycare or boarding for more than 3 months) you dog will need to re-attend a Daycare Prep day in order to re-establish acceptance into the facility and allow your pup to acclimate to the group. If you pup physical health declines and is no longer eligible to attend care all deposits made for daycare or boarding will be forfeit. It is the responsibility of the owner to re-establish honest and truthful health concerns to Team L.D.R. and owner to ensure safe care for all pups.
Care Documentation
Your initial care packet is held on file for 5 years from the initial Daycare Prep Day. If you pup does not attend care within 5 years of the last care session (daycare prep or boarding) the files will be shredded and a new Daycare Prep Day assessment will be required to attend. This ensures that all pups coming to the L.D.R. are currently qualified per health and socialization ability within the pack at any given time.
Guest Breeds
We specialize in the tiny, toy, teacup, itty-bitty and very little fur-baby. This is a general breed guideline. We do not accept every dog. Pups are admitted on a case-by-case basis and are subject to personality, needs, social skills, training and overall temperament.
All fur-babies must be under 15 pounds to participate. We reserve the right to remove or prohibit access to our facility to any dog and/or fur-baby parent(s).
All Toy, Teacup and Designer Breeds are subject to the same above restrictions.

All contracts and pup paperwork is kept on-site in our secure daycare space. Outside parties do not have access to such documents. For the safety and privacy of all guess we do not share your personal information, information about your dog or otherwise with other businesses, clients or individuals. We do adhere to all state and federal requirements outlined in WAC and Federal Law.

Our unique OUTDOOR OLFACTORY STIMULATION GARDEN theme embraces a canines natural interest to roll, sniff, nibble and play with dog safe plants, herbs, and small shrubbery. This in turn stimulates the olfactory bulb causing your pup to relax even further into the experience and calm down in order to play more. You can learn more about our DOG GARDEN in the link below.
Our interactive play equipment, skill building toys, an outdoor play park and seasonally appropriate water features.
We have a variety speciality houses and beds for your pup to have a safe and luxurious resting experience after a long day of play.
When your pup visits the Little Dog Retreat they get to make new fur-ever friends, relax or run, take a stroll through the flowers and plants, take a nap, bask in the sun or get a little shade.
Our fur-baby guests love playing hide-and-seek around the expansive space as well as playing tag, search-and-discover games or just run around to get the zooms out.
Plus, in addition to our village, we also feature a little dog play ground and play park for added fun! Pups are given an opportunity to learn fun skills while getting exercise and making new friends. All equipment was especially designed for our little fur-baby wonders for individual and group play.

Daycare guests have a mid-day 3pm snack and nap time.
While boarding guests get Bruch around 10am and dinner around 6:30pm.
For evening boarding guests we play soothing and calming music, add a dash of dog safe aromatherapy and everyone gets extra belly rubs and massage.

Want to plant your OWN Dog Garden . . .
Growing up with the last name of Doolittle, I had my fair share of pets and animal friends. I cared for neighbors cats and dogs when their humans traveled. I was hired to work with friends pets when they went on vacation. My family had a large pond with ducks, raccoons, possum, rabbits, quail, birds and coyotes. I've helped deliver several cat litters and I helped deliver my own Pomeranian, Haley. After college, I spent some time in banking and finance because that was 'good paying career' and I was even an elected official and held public office for 6 years in a small local city. In 2006 my husband and I adopted a tiny Italian Greyhound and our lives changed forever. This is that story.
At this time (4/2024) our Girls' have all uniquely crossed the Rainbow Bridge but their legacy lives on with the L.D.R.

Once upon a time,
… there lived a girl from a patch of grass and a well constructed creek in a land called Home, which is where the Little Dog Retreat is located.
The girl, Queen of this land, loved to spend time in her garden, work on her laptop outside eating el fresco and generally spent most of her days longing for a friend.
“If only I had someone to share my passion for exotic, luxurious treats, one of a kind accessories and beautiful antiques.” she thought to herself often.
One day while the girl was in Seattle attending a dog show. She came across a very small and enchanting creature.
“What is this magnificent little being?” she asked herself scooping it up and holding it close to her face.
Giving it the softest of hugs the little fur-baby spoke,
“I am an Italian Greyhound” the little one cooed, “and I am searching for a good home. You see I am always cold and I need a warm and loving family who will dress me in soft and fabulous fabrics that will not harm my delicate skin.”
The girl, realizing that this truly was an enchanted pup; for not only was this little wonder able to speak, but she was a perfect match for the girls own search for the highest quality of living.
“Indeed, my little wonder, I am the one you have been searching for! I shall bring you home with me and create a world in which you will have the finest, softest and cutest things,” the girl exclaimed overjoyed with emotion!
So the girl, pronounced Mercedes as the First Fur-baby, Pup Princess of all the land called Home.
They lived happily in their magical far away land made of miniature Parisian buildings, gourmet treats and beautiful flowers.
The girl and the pup enjoyed a life of inseparable bliss until one day out-and-about they came across a tiny, furry creature bursting in motherhood and was clearly about to deliver at any moment.
Shaken by her condition they vowed to assist her and stayed by her side until the wee hours of the morning where she delivered a beautiful little fur-baby fluff of massive personality and never ending sunshine.
The girl carefully assisted in the best way she knew how and when the last of the pups had been delivered the girl asked’ “what should we call you?”
The fuzziness responded with a remarkable confidence, “I am a Princess-pom and you can call me Haley” they all listened intently as she continued; “as you can see I am very small and my fur will soon defy my size, but I have a regal stance and a sharp wit that will allow me to win over friend or foe.
The girl and the pup Princess Mercedes took a moment to consult each other and in an instant they invited the fuzzy creature to join them in their magical Parisian kingdom called Home.
The teeny pom-pup welcomed their offer with an appetite for all of life’s delight and enjoyment.
Mercedes and the girl immediately recognized the kindred spirit of the fuzzy creature and overjoyed by her enthusiasm, they all embarked on their new life together.
What came next surprised all of girls. One sunny day the mighty King of this land arrived home with news of a fellow fur-baby in dire conditions.
Princess Mercedes Luv and Princess Haley Bean rushed to aid their struggling kin. When the girls arrived they embraced the wee pup who had been curled up to shield herself off from the world.
Mercedes knelt and said, “you are tiny, but brave. I can see your inner strength and fiery perseverance. I truly believe you will find harmony in our enchanted kingdom. Come with us and become our sister.”
The wee creature lifted her head to reveal her strong stature and huge ears; “your world sounds truly amazing, I will see if it is true,” and with those words the four girls set off for Home.
Back at the kingdom, the girls became fast, furry friends. The King and Queen called for a celebration; where the girls anxiously awaited the naming of their new sister. The mighty King embraced the wee creature and wisely selected a name, “you will be known as Bridget in all the lands.”
The Queen, carefully carried Bridget to the garden, gently lifting her for her kingdom to see, “may I introduce, your newest Princess Pup, Princess Bridget!”
The kingdom cheered as the celebration began.
Along with her sisters, Bridget took her seat next to the King and Queen of this land, and smiled, “now I am Home.”
Now we share our magical kingdom of teeny wonder with the world through the LITTLE DOG RETREAT TM.
Our guests enjoy our delightful garden and little dog safe play field. This is a unique experience for the truly treasured fur-baby.
A Little About the Founder:
Growing up, I had certain expectations that I would eventually become a veterinarian or spend a career in an animal related profession.
However, my political and educational interests brought me to the University of Washington for my BA then to internship in Olympia and spending time in Washington DC several times lobbying with various groups and eventually to become a 6 year Councilwomen for one of our local cities.
After marrying in 2005, my husband and I purchased a home in Lynnwood. Spending almost 5 years in banking and finance and only four courses shy of my MBA, the dream of owning my own little dog business took precedence and came to fruition.
In March of 2007 we opened our doors and home to what is now known as The Little Dog Retreat TM. It just goes to show that sometimes the best jobs are the one’s you pick at age 6.
And, the Princesses of this land were met with love and affection for all of their days.
