Once upon a time,
there lived a girl from a patch of grass and a well constructed creek in a land called Home, which is where the Little dog retreat TM is located. The girl, Queen of this land, loved to watch runway shows and shop the beautiful, elegant and fashionable streets of Paris. “If only I had someone to share my passion for exotic, luxurious designers, one of a kind accessories and beautiful French antiques.” she thought to herself often.
One day while the girl was shopping she came across a very small and enchanting creature. “What is this magnificent little being?” she asked herself scooping it up and holding it close to her face. Giving it the softest of hugs the little fur-baby spoke, “I am an Italian Greyhound” the little one cooed, “and I am searching for a good home. You see I am always cold and I need a warm and loving family who will dress me in soft and fabulous fabrics that will not harm my delicate skin.” The girl, realizing that this truly was an enchanted pup; for not only was this little wonder able to speak, but she was a perfect match for the girls own search for the highest quality of living. “Indeed, my little wonder, I am the one you have been searching for! I shall bring you home with me and create a world in which you will have the finest, softest and cutest things,” the girl exclaimed overjoyed with emotion!
So the girl, pronounced Mercedes as the First Fur-baby, Pup Princess of all Ahndellasia. They lived happily in their magical far away land made of miniature Parisian buildings, gourmet treats and private label designer fashion!
The girl and the pup enjoyed a life of inseparable bliss until one day they came across a tiny, furry creature bursting in motherhood and was clearly about to deliver at any moment. Shaken by her condition they vowed to assist her and stayed by her side until the wee hours of the morning where she delivered a beautiful little fur-baby. The girl carefully assisted in the best way she knew how and when the last one had been delivered the girl asked’ “what should we call you?” The fuzziness responded with a remarkable confidence, “I am a princess-pom and you can call me Haley” they all listened intently as she continued; “as you can see I am very small and my fur will soon defy my size, but I have a regal stance and a sharp wit that will allow me to win over friend or foe. The girl and the pup took a moment to consult and in an instant they invited the fuzzy creature to join them in their magical Parisian kingdom.
The teeny pom-pup welcomed their offer with an appetite for all of life’s delight and enjoyment. Mercedes and the girl immediately recognized the kindred spirit of the fuzzy creature and overjoyed by her enthusiasm, they all embarked on their new life together.
One sunny day the mighty King of this land arrived home with news of a fellow fur-baby in dire conditions. Princess Mercedes Luv and Princess Haley Bean rushed to aid their struggling kin. When the girls arrived they embraced the wee pup who had been curled up to shield herself off from the world. Mercedes knelt and said, “you are tiny, but brave. I can see your inner strength and I truly believe you will find harmony in our enchanted kingdom. Come with us and become our sister.” The wee creature lifted her head to reveal her strong stature and huge ears; “your world sounds truly amazing, I will see if it is true,” and with those words the three set off for Ahndellasia.
Back at the kingdom, the girls became fast, furry friends. The King and Queen called for a celebration; where the girls anxiously awaited the naming of their new sister. The mighty King embraced the wee creature and wisely selected a name, “you will be known as Bridget in all the lands.” The Queen, carefully carried Bridget to the balcony, gently lifting her for her kingdom to see, “may I introduce, your newest Princess Pup, Princess Bridget!” The kingdom cheered as the celebration began.
Along with her sisters, Bridget took her seat next to the King and Queen of Ahndellasia, and smiled, “now I am home.”
Now we share our magical kingdom of teeny wonder with the world through the LITTLE DOG RETREAT TM. Our guests enjoy our ‘Play Time in Paris’ miniature, Parisian kingdom offering a unique experience for the truly treasured fur-baby.
A Little About the Founder:
Growing up, I had certain expectations that I would eventually become a veterinarian or spend a career in an animal related profession. However, my political and educational interests brought me to the University of Washington for my BA in Political Science, to internship in Olympia, to Washington DC several times lobbying with various groups and eventually to become a 6 year Councilwomen for one of our local cities.
After marrying in 2005, my husband and I purchased a home in Lynnwood. Spending almost 5 years in banking and finance and only four courses shy of my MBA, the dream of owning my own little dog business took precedence and came to fruition. In March of 2007 we opened our doors and home to what is now known as The Little Dog Retreat TM. It just goes to show that sometimes the best jobs are the one’s you pick at age 6.
We look forward to meeting you soon!

We LOVE Sasha!
I am thrilled there is finally a special place designed ONLY for small dogs that truly caters to their unique needs and comforts and that is so much fun!!! Sasha, the owner, has a very gentile and loving way that quickly relaxes even the most timid and fearful dog. I knew right away when I walked into the retreat that we had finally found a place that I could happily leave Allie and Hardy, our two small Papillons, and know they were safe, well cared for and having a fantastic time.
They have been going since October [2008] for weekly play dates, and have had numerous overnight stays, the longest so far being 12 nights. They love going to play with their new buddies. I just say "let's go play with Mercedes and Sasha" and their ears pick up and they get so excited! They always come home happy with big contented smiles on their faces!
We love that the dogs are never kept in cages or crates. They have the freedom to play in the really cool indoor area (designed with parisian theme) with soft and cozy beds to lounge in, lots of toys to play with, fun spaces and hideaways to explore and ramps to walk up for a view outside. They even have their own DVD player for watching movies (the latest doggie releases of course) to relax by on the overnight stays. Then there is the amazing, huge grassy yard to explore, explore, explore!! They all have such fun in the yard racing around, sniffing, chasing balls, using the agility equipment, checking out the cute little dog houses or just basking on the deck in the sun. It's so great to see such a happy bunch of dogs hanging out together.
We feel so lucky to have found Sasha and her wonderful retreat and highly recommend her to anyone with small dogs who is looking for a truly special place to leave their pups when they go on vacation or for weekly play dates. I guarantee your dog will have a fantastic time!

Absolutely fabulous. Sasha the owner does not take in a large number of dogs. The place is spotless, the backyard is large and has many doggie houses and agility equipment for fun. My italian greyhound never comes home stinky from the Little Dog Retreat. Iíve taken my dog to other daycares and she comes home smelly. The free-run setting is great and the dogs get to go outside every few hours and run around. There are no dogs over 20 lbs so my little one is playing with dogs around her own size. The best daycare for small dogs in Seattle imho.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving my Italian Greyhound (Gracie) with anyone else! IG’s need special attention that only people who own them can understand! Sasha and her team take special care of Gracie by spoiling her, cuddling with her and making sure she’s warm! Sasha takes pictures while we’re away on vacation and posts them so that we can see how happy Gracie is while we’re gone! It’s a truly different atmosphere then any other place you can take your pup. She treats every dog like a little child and knows all of their quirks and habits. The yard is huge with lots of things to play with and jump on, over and around. And the dog area inside truly spoils all the kids with lots of pretty beds and things to play with. Sasha is also very organized. She keeps all of her records up to date and runs her business very well!! We wouldn’t take our IG’s any where else!(As posted on Facebook)

Millie and Mouse have been staying at the Little Dog Retreat off-and-on for a few years. M&M love it! They have the best time with Sasha, her girls, and the other guests. When we pull up at the Retreat, M&M are so excited to get inside and see everyone that they practically drag me along behind them. M&M wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else!! To Whom It May Concern,
We own two pomeranians (now 4) Fizz Gig Boo and Princess Fiona {+Jojo and Baby B.] who upon multiple occasions have had the wonderful opportunity to stay at the Little Dog Retreat for both overnight care as well as weekly daycare. Our dogs throughly enjoy the cute French theme dog city that has been specially created with the very small dog in mind. All we have to do is say that we are going to go see Sasha and Mercedes and they jump in excitment.
The owner, Sasha is great with our dogs, they always come home happy and it is obvious that they love her in return. I would suggest her to anyone with a small dog as her facility is a safe-haven for dogs that are timid, shy or scared of bigger dogs. Her crate and kennel free enciroment allows dogs that would normally be too nervous to socialize, relax and actually play without precautions.
Respectfully,
Joel and Jennifer

This is my GLOWING recommendation for the LITTLE DOG RETREAT and owner Sasha Reinke.
My Yorkie, Roni is my child and I was very concerned about where I leave him when I am away. Sasha has created the most amazing atmosphere for small dogs. She cares for each dog as if itís her own, paying attention to every detail to ensure a fun, safe and relaxing home away from home for our dogs.
Since I have found the LITTLE DOG RETREAT, I have not only stopped worrying about him while I am gone, I am actually happy that we both get a vacation! He LOVES it there, and I have to beg him to actually come home with me!
I will continue to recommend the LITTLE DOG RETREAT to anyone that loves their small dog.

“If you want the best in daycare and overnight boarding for your 15 pound and under pup, The Little Dog Retreat is the place for you. I went to 8 different facilities before I decided on The Little Dog Retreat, and none of them compared to Sasha’s place. My two dachshunds LOVE going there because they are not caged, they get to run and play outside, have rest time in the luxurious Paris themed pup room, get lost of treats and rubs and attention and wonderful socialization. I left them there for 3 weeks when I went abroad last fall and did not worry about them for 1 minute because Sasha is very knowledgeable and caring and the pups just adore her and the other dogs. It is also a great environment for them to learn socialization skills.” (As posted on Yelp)

“I wanted to post a review for Sasha and the Little Dog Retreat because this was the only place I felt safe leaving my baby Tucker with for a week, while I went off to Hawaii to get married and have my honeymoon. It was the first time I have been away from him for this long and I was so nervous about leaving him. I never leave him at friends’ or familys’ house’s because it really takes someone with small dog experience to keep a small dog safe. On top of that, I couldn’t bare to put my little guy in a kennel type boarding situation... where he would feel locked up. Also, I think those places see so many different animals that your dog is just another $ $ in their account. Sasha has such a cute place set up for the pups, and for an over-worried fur-mom like myself... her double entrance gate and knowledge of small dogs really gave me the security I needed to enjoy my time away from my fur baby. Also, his social skills have greatly improved since going to the Little Dog Retreat and I attribute that to him having time away from his helicopter mom and being forced to socialize on his own with the other pups. All around 5 stars. Love this place.” (As posted on Yelp)

“Zues had a great time in Paris and we’re so glad we found The Little Dog Retreat. Zues used to always come home from the kennel sick because he could never relax with all the other dogs around. Plus, we were always concerned that a larger dog might eat him. =) After his stay in Paris, he came home happy and healthy! What a relief to have found The Little Dog Retreat. It’s so wonderful to have a place just for the little dogs! Thanks!”

Q: HOW MANY DOGS DO YOU TAKE?
A: We only accept about 5 dogs at a time, as a result space is very limited. Due to various care days we may have an additional pup or two for a day or so as pups get dropped-off or picked-up.
Q: DO YOU GIVE DISCOUNTS FOR MULTI-DOG HOUSEHOLDS?
A: We do not create or kennel pups in seperate spaces as a result we only offer a limited number of pups to stay with us at any given time. Due to our limited space we do not offer discounts, coupons, preice-negociateions or cost adjustments.
Q: WHERE WILL MY FUR-BABY NAP?
A: Your pup is encouraged to select one of our beds, dens or sleepy things. Guests gravitate toward one of our many car beds, private houses or built-in town homes in our daycare room for naps, resting and eventually make their way into a cuddly sack, soft bed, built-in houses or private villa for their slumber.
Q: DOES THE AREA THE DOGS SLEEP STAY WARM?
A: Absolutely. In the winter we keep our Play Time in Paris environment at approximately 70 degrees to ensure a comfortable environment. In the summer we adjust accordingly and spend much of our time outside enjoying the sunny days.
Q: WHAT IF MY PUP CAN NOT RELAX?
A: Fortunately, our unique size and temperament restrictions allows us to ensure all pups playing are friendly, non-threatening and welcoming. We take special precautions to allow adequate time for nervous or anxious pups to relax with us first, then slowly introduce them to the pack. Weíll continually monitor their interaction to ensure they are able to socialize on their terms; giving them encouraging belly rubs, ear massages and cuddles along their way to full retreat enjoyment.
Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF MY PUP GETS HURT?
A: Our staff is trained in Pet CPR and First Aid through the American Red Cross; we also have on-site canine first aid kits ready for any incident. In the event that we are not equipped to handle a certain circumstance we utilize VCA Veterinary Speciality Center (7 min. from our home) 425.697.6106, which has 24 hour emergency assistance. In the event of an injury of any kind, parents are contacted immediately. Your alternate pick-up provider will be called to meet us at the vet in the event that a need arrises.
Q: WHAT ACTIVITIES WILL MY FUR-BABY BE ABLE TO DO WHILE I WORK OR PLAY?
A: Your fur-baby will be involved in a variety of activities including, but not limited to ...
Little dog agility for fun.
Chasing and playing tag.
Follow-the-leader games.
Ball and frisbee.
Squeaker fetch.
Search and discover games.

If you have a tiny dog or a desinger breed that
we’ve missed let us know.
Did you know ... A healthy dogís nose works 1 million x more effectively than that of their human counterpart. Or, that each dog has an individual nose print, similar to that of a human fingerprint.
The canine nose has a unique function for various breeds. For instance some can smell things that are under 100+ feet of water, others can sense specific metabolic changes or chemical substances.
That is why our garden is not only completely edible, it also engages the multi-talented canine nose. We have such plants as andromeda, lavender, kale, mint and more.
Filled with fun scents, yummy plants, and an array of play things for your pup to enjoy; your fur-baby will not only be happy and relaxed by the time they go home, but they will be overjoyed, building friendships and having fun.
We understand how hard it is for a fur-baby to be away from home so weíve created a world in which your pup can explore, run, play, dig, hike, make new friends, run some more and dream.
Give us a call to explore our little retreat for yourself.
